A question for the ladies: does having large labia make it difficult to keep clean down below?

Not at all. I think it's easier because instead of having to open your outer labia to even get into the crevice of the inner labia, you just have to move them to the side. You're not as likely to get soap inside your vagina, since it's all in reach, and your wash cloth doesn't have to blinding search for things.

I'm very particular about washing myself down their to begin with. I always make sure I suds up and scrub around and get the inner part of my labia. Or I stretch the each labia to make sure nothing is being hidden in between a fold.

I feel that if you have large labia you're more aware of what you have to clean and what can get dirty oppose to having small or non existent labia, and thinking that you covered everything. The same goes for a large clit or clitoral hood.

Good comparison @tempest_driver. I never thought of it that way.

Yes I agree a good comparison. But it is honestly not difficult to keep clean.

Just found this on the net and thought I should share as it is relevant:

    How to Wash Your Vagina

    Steps

    1. Get in your shower in the most comfortable position to wash your vulva. This could be either standing with the shower head running or even squatting while the tap is running.
    2. If you are left handed, use your left hand or if you are right handed, use your right hand.
Gently rub your vulva with your index, middle and ring finger with
clean water, get between your labia (lips) to make sure any discharge,
dead cells or dirt is removed.
    3. Using a clean wash cloth or a plastic cup, rinse by pouring water over the vulva. Don't rub too hard, or get the water too hot. This could lead to irritation.
    4. You should not use soaps or washes.
These will dry-out the mucus membrane of the inside of your vulva which
may cause irritation, and toxins that may be present in some products
are more easily absorbed through the mucus membrane. Soaps and washes
will also effect the natural pH of your vagina/vulva which effects
healthy bacterial balance - this can lead to bad odor and risk
      infections.

    Tips

    • Wash or wipe using a front to back motion (meaning spread your
labia[vaginal lips] apart and wipe from front to back). This helps to
      prevent Urinary Tract Infections (UTI).
    • Make sure when you go to clean your vagina, that your hands are
clean, and do not have soap on them, if you don't want to use soap.

    Warnings

    • Be gentle! Aggressive scrubbing could damage sensitive tissues of the vagina.
    • Use minimal soap and be careful to avoid getting soap inside the vagina.
    • Wash the buttocks and anal area last to avoid cross contamination.
Anal bacteria reaching the vagina (by piggy-backing on a wash cloth or
fingers) can cause serious discomfort and/or infection.
    • Be careful if you're on your period.

It seems to be mixing up it's vulvas with it's vaginas! Soap is fine (for cleaning the vulva not vagina).

I noticed that too. I'm not quite sure what they mean by "be careful if you're on your period." I say hose it down and really get it squeaky clean twice a day during that time.

I'm with Eva and Agatha on this one.  Hose it down!!  If you don't have a handheld shower head, it's well worth investing in one.  My g/f is in love with it!!

It seems to me that the larger labia would be on par with being uncircumcised when it comes to hygiene. Not necessarily more difficult, but it may require a little more attention to detail. And ladies who are so blessed have mostly been that way for so long that they don't notice.
